Movie Review: Wonder Woman 2017 – “Best DC Film Since Nolan’s Dark Knight”

Posted in entertainment by Fated Blue on June 3, 2017

I watched this film as soon as the nearest theatre allowed me to watch it and I loved it.

I’ve been hyped since Batman V Superman and right now I’m telling you: Wonder Woman is the best DC film since Nolan’s Dark Knight.

Right now I’m giving it a solid 9.5/10.

9.5 out of 10 is the highest grade I’ve given any DC film since Nolan’s Dark Knight.

For the current DCEU movies, I gave MoS a 6, I didn’t think BvS was crap so I gave it a 7, and Suicide Squad, 5.

Movie Review: LOGAN (2017)

Posted in entertainment by Fated Blue on March 12, 2017

744742.jpgI am going to say this right now. If you haven’t seen this film yet, make it a point to see it after reading this post. Not just because it’s the last film of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine but because of how incredible the whole movie was.

Book Review: Library of Souls (Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children #3)

Posted in entertainment by Fated Blue on October 10, 2016

Library of Souls(This is a late post as I’ve finished the book since September first week)

(Click the links for my reviews on books 1 and 2)

The thing I like about Ransom Riggs’ Peculiar series is how he manages to introduce a familiar story without making the reader liken it too much to something else. While his series received multiple praises and even got commended for being “the next Harry Potter”, you can’t help but be thankful for the author’s original take on what a peculiar gang of kids would do if they had weird powers.

I liked books 1 and 2 so it went without saying my expectations from the last of the trilogy would be pretty high. I now realize I expected a little too much.

Movie Review: Suicide Squad

Posted in entertainment by Fated Blue on August 7, 2016

Suicide_Squad_Wallpaper_1680x1050Batman v Superman started the franchise this year and it got pretty mixed reviews. Critics didn’t like it but fans say critics were too harsh. I reviewed it and personally, I liked it. Now comes Suicide Squad, the franchise’s first villains-turned-hero film ala Deadpool (well, technically Deadpool’s an antihero).

Like a curse, Suicide Squad met its own BvS critics. Fans reacted and even went on as to petition the shutting down of a popular film-review website. Fans like me weren’t deterred so I went ahead and formed my own opinion about the film and here is my review.

Movie Review: Captain America – Civil War

Posted in entertainment by Fated Blue on May 22, 2016

Civil War movie

I reviewed Batman v Superman last time and I got two scores for the normal fan and the comic book fan.

Anyway, I’m into the whole Avengers bandwagon thing now since I’m one of those normal fans who are looking forward to how it all ends. I already watched the Iron Man movies, the Cap A movies, and of course, the two Avengers films. I also watched Guardians of the Galaxy but I skipped Thor, Ant Man (heard it was cool/a B+ movie), and will be skipping Dr. Strange despite him possibly having another infinity stone.

Again, I’m not a total fan of Marvel or any of its franchise. I’m not even really into DC myself save for Batman. So this review is just what a casual MCU fan thinks of the movie.

This is a pretty late review as I watched it last May 1. Too much time writing stuff for my website and for my job. It’s also mostly spoiler free except #2. (more…)

Movie Review: Batman v Superman

Posted in entertainment by Fated Blue on April 17, 2016

Batman v Superman

This is a really late post as I watched the film last March 26. Reason for the late post is due to a really hectic schedule concerning my work as a freelance writer. I’m sure everyone knows what critics and fans think of the film.

On one side are people who thought the movie was too dark, gritty, serious, lacked storytelling structure, and “not like Marvel.” On the other side are people who are more than pleased with Snyder’s Justice League prequel and are ready to duke it out with naysayers anytime of day.

I’m not a fan of the comic book series, I’m not a fan of the Justice League series. What I am is a fan of Batman and this is what a typical Batman fan has to say about Batman v Superman. (more…)

Les Miserables Manila 2016 – Worth Every Second And Every Cent

Les Miserables Manila is definitely worth the price and traffic. The effects and props are what you would expect from an international performance group. I love this novel and I would definitely watch it again and again and again. I’ve been wanting to watch it since I read the unabridged book some 10 or so years ago as well as watch the film four years back. The story still drives me to a sort of lonely guilt that I just love feeling.

I purchased the tickets without knowing who the heck played who because this was the first time Les Mis would be in the Philippines. I booked VIP on opening day and chose the best seat in the house which was right in the center without being too close or too far; just right to see, hear, and even feel everything.
