Les Miserables Manila is definitely worth the price and traffic. The effects and props are what you would expect from an international performance group. I love this novel and I would definitely watch it again and again and again. I’ve been wanting to watch it since I read the unabridged book some 10 or so years ago as well as watch the film four years back. The story still drives me to a sort of lonely guilt that I just love feeling.

I purchased the tickets without knowing who the heck played who because this was the first time Les Mis would be in the Philippines. I booked VIP on opening day and chose the best seat in the house which was right in the center without being too close or too far; just right to see, hear, and even feel everything.

Oscars 2016: Too Much Race Talk But At Least Leo Won!

Posted in entertainment, politics, weather by Fated Blue on February 29, 2016

I don’t really watch stuff like this since I’m not much of  a movie person myself but I do like to keep tabs on select actors and actresses and this year we all knew it was Leo’s time to shine. Here are my two huge cents on the this year’s Academy awards.

The Good

I’m really happy for Leo bagging his first Oscar ever and his really awesome speech on raising environmental awareness.

Like, how can you not want to plant trees after that speech?

It was drizzling atop the mountain
Where God stood to greet himself.
I was praying for success and happiness,
For patience and strength.
No prayers for you yet you were there.
Drenched, fatigued, and with muddy, muddy shoes.

Book Review: The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman

The Graveyard Book cover

I didn’t have this cover. I had the original one but in gold and had the Newberry Medal displayed.

After falling for his “Ocean” and “Gods” books, I figured I should read one of Gaiman’s more popular works when I saw this on a bookshelf in some random bookstore.

I’ve kept this book hidden since May this year, often reading what I initially saw as more “exciting” books in my previous book reviews. While I did have joy in reading those books, I believe I felt as if I betrayed myself by putting this book on hold for such a long time.

This book is simply amazing. I’ve never read anything quite like it. Gaiman states he drew inspiration from The Jungle Book, which is about a child raised by animals. Truth be told, this book does share an awful lot of similarity with its inspiration but it’s nothing short of original and witty when it comes to delivery and concept.

First Love by Fated Blue

“You’re in love with her, aren’t you?”

“huh?”

“When you were talking to her at the other table, I saw the way you looked, no, stared at her.

You don’t look at me that way and for the longest time I’ve always wondered if there was something missing, something I haven’t done but now I know.

Those eyes…those eyes are really for someone else.” (more…)

Book Review: It’s Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini

funnystory

I bought this book without knowing what it was really about. I figured the teaser at the back sounded promising as it seemed to introduce a bunch of quirky, not-so-cliche characters which many books seem to use nowadays. It was also interesting how it involved a story of a suicidal boy which reminded me of how interesting “Perks” was.

To be honest, the book was a bit slow and depressing when it started. I’m not a fan of depressing books so I guess that has to be a factor too. I actually planned on skipping this book for another but I figured it should get interesting as a friend of mine, whom I really think is cool when it comes to song and book interests, told me it was worth a read. And it was.

Stephen Colbert Gives A Wonderful Goodbye To Jon Stewart

Posted in entertainment, internet news, life, youtube shows by Fated Blue on August 8, 2015

jon-stewart

If you’re wondering what this is about, John Stewart of the Daily Show has officially retired from the show this Thursday which was just 12 or so hours ago from my timezone (it’s 40 past midnight here as I write this, Saturday morning). It saddens me because I only got to watch him back in 2009 and I already missed a lot. I don’t watch TV a lot but I like the way he tells the hard truth in a funny way. I also got to watch Stephen Colbert become a force to be reckoned with when it comes to political satire/comedy.

I’ll miss their tandem so much.

Here’s a video of Stephen’s impromptu goodbye message to Jon. It’s beautiful. #jonvoyage
