This scene was the holy grail of superhero action scenes to date.

I just watched this film and I had my hopes way, way up specially since it’s an all-star cast and it’s one of the best film franchises in history. I mean, it’s a superhero movie made by one of the best superhero movie makers. The bar is already set high when you think back to the first Avengers film. I’m going to say it now: This film surpasses the first one in all aspects. You could go there and set your standards high and you wouldn’t think the film would go beyond it.  (more…)

Anima9 mourns the death of Paul Walker

Posted in entertainment by Fated Blue on December 1, 2013

I saw this news on Facebook and I couldn’t believe it. I thought it was a hoax, I thought it was just one of those actors we all joke about dying. To my sad surprise, it was true. CNN reports:

Speed was a factor in the crash, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office said.

The wreck took place about 3:30 p.m. (6:30 p.m. ET), about 300 yards from the office park where the event was held. The speed limit there is 45 mph.

Up and down the road near the crash site were burned rubber and doughnut marks as though someone smoked their tires in figure 8 patterns.

“I don’t know if the marks in the road are related to the crash,” said Los Angeles County sheriff’s Sgt. Brian Allen.

Deputies arrived at the scene to find a vehicle on fire, he said

Once fire crews put the flames out, they found two occupants, both of whom were pronounced dead at the scene.

Movie Review: The Dark Knight Rises

Let me first start this off by saying I had the highest of highest expectations for this movie since The Dark Knight. I really thought TDK (which what I’ll abbreviate the 2nd film from now on) was the best of the franchise and will be hard to top but this film proved me wrong.

To be honest, I really would’ve preferred the Joker in the last film but alas we can’t have everything we want. Still, TDKR (the 3rd movie from now on) is no push over. In fact, I’ll go as far and say TDKR is on a completely different level than the first two films. It is definitely larger and at the pedestal of legends in movie franchise history.

I won’t really spoil you guys but I’ll be dropping a few bombs along the way so read at your own risk. With that settled, let’s begin my review of The Dark Knight Rises.

Movie Review: The Avengers 2012

Posted in entertainment by Fated Blue on April 29, 2012

I had my doubts about this movie being awesome since most movies with a plethora of Hollywood stars don’t usually mix together. That didn’t escape this movie but it wasn’t really an issue since the whole story made up for it (and whopping 2.5 hours to boot!).

I’m not gonna go around and proclaim stuff I have no idea about. So let me just get this out of the way: I’m no fan of comics, Marvel or DC. It should go without saying that I am simply a guy that likes to watch superhero movies with all the action, SFX, CGI, and all the crazy powers I can only dream of having.

Despite my skipping “Thor” and “Captain America”, this movie was always in my movies-to-watch-before-the-world-ends-on-December-12-2012 list. I don’t exactly know why but it must be the fact that I enjoyed watching Robert Downey Jr.’s movies so much and I’m not just pertaining to his Iron Man movies. Plus, Scarlett Johansson is there and I really like her character as much as I like watching her act that character out. Nothing like a sexy assassin to boost up movie ratings.

It could be the curiosity of just how could ordinary people with abilities enhanced by mere mortal technology fight on par with gods. But as the movie progressed, it would appear that the gods of the Marvel universe aren’t really capable of displaying god-like omnipotency, save for a few select characters you’ll find in this link.

I’m not sure as how far the Marvel franchise is willing to go with this movie. The Marvel universe is simply too big even if you did isolate the franchise on the “Avengers” type of story line. But for starters, this movie was a good opening.

It was so fast. One minute I was tweeting, the next time I pressed F5, it was trending, #amywinehouse. And it told me she’s DEAD.

Just as she was trying to get back to full health too

Movie Review: The Sorcerer’s Apprentice

Posted in entertainment by Fated Blue on July 18, 2010

This will be a quick review. I only have so much internet time since I started working.

I watched this on it’s premiere date. Needless to say, a lot of people lined up for this. I was supposed to watch “Inception” since I found the trailers so amazing. I then realized that the malls in Laguna (Specifically: SM Sta. Rosa) closes at 9 pm for it’s last full show. I was late by a mere 20 minutes for Inception that I thought “Hey, I’m here so I might as well watch a movie”.

MOVIE REVIEW: Robin Hood 2010 – The beginning we all should’ve known

First things first: I watched this film right after I completed ALL the pre-employment requirements requested by my employer. I figured I deserve to watch a film to reward myself for all the efforts I exerted within the past 7 days.

I chose this film simply because it was a Russell Crowe movie. Not to mention him teaming up with Ridley Scott. If you don’t know how good their combination is, just look up the epic film “Gladiator” and you should be enlightened as to why I had a damn need to watch this.

The movie was about the story we all should’ve known: How Robinhood became the man he was before becoming the legend.

Summary: The movie’s story telling was great but needed more action. It can bore those who really looked forward to archers doing their archery and swordsmen doing their swordsmanship in battle based on the trailers shown. I actually was very satisfied with the film but I felt that had there been an extra 10-20 minutes more of action or at least 15 minutes less of story telling, this film would’ve been very big. Still, I was very happy to have watched such a strong film among others known for only their popularity.
