This will be a quick review as I barely have time to write today.
Anyway, as with most of Murakami novels, this one plays with both reality and the metaphysical. It’s funny how this book was slow to begin with but upon reading further, I realized it must’ve been exactly how Murakami wanted the novel to be read. I’m not talking about slow-paced books like Umberto Eco’s The Name Of The Rose (I’ve read it but never really got around to reviewing it) or at least his 1Q84.
I watched the film last night with a couple of friends. I’ll try to keep this short but sweet as to avoid spoilers.
The third and final installment in the Rurouni Kenshin movies picks up where the last film left off. As far as hype and expectations were concerned, the last film received probably triple the amount as compared to its amazing predecessor. The last film was expected to cover the legendary fight scenes of the Juppon Gatana, whom if I may add lacked screen time, and of course the big reveal of Kenshin’s ultimate technique. (more…)
With relation to the trailer above to the awesome movie that is the RuroKen live action trilogy, I chanced upon this recording on youtube on what seemed to be a concert, the official first live coverage of Heartache!
I just finished watching this awesome movie. I was lusting for a good samurai movie and this one just pushed the right buttons for me. I was searching for the top 100 Japanese movies of all time and this was in. I didn’t read any synopses nor did I watch any trailers. I simply had to take my chances with this film and I found it worthy spending two hours of my life.
Google shows it’s support for Japan’s crisis in a very evident manner by utilizing “Crisis Response” and “Person Finder”.

I’m sure you’ve at least heard of it by now; Japan just got slammed by an 8.9 magnitude earthquake earlier today which then resulted in this biblical proportion of a tidal wave (or tsunami). Here’s an official report.
